Robert Francis Kennedy (November 20, 1925 – June 6, 1968) Bobby One of John F. Kennedy's most trusted advisors and Attorney General for his administration, Robert Kennedy (RFK) worked closely with the President during the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the subsequent Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked tirelessly against organized crime. In 1964, after his brother's death, RFK was elected to the US Senate from the state of New York. In 1968 he embraced opposition to the Vietnam War. His presidential campaign was powered by an aggressive vision for civil freedom and justice, active minority participation in American politics and outright opposition to the conservative attitudes of the American South and the indifference of many Americans to serious social problems like poverty and racism. He stands as an icon of American liberalism and the modern political agenda of the United States Democratic Party.
